How to Set Up Your Windows 10 Wireless

To connect to a wireless network using Windows 10, follow the steps below.

Which Network to Use: 

MSU: Faculty, staff, and students living off-campus.
MSU Open: Visiting in the PSU, Welcome Center, or the Library.
MSU Residential: Students living on campus.
MSU Sponsored: Departmental guest access (must get key from Networking and Telecommunication).

Step-by-Step Guide

Setting up Your Windows 10 Wireless in Regular Mode

1. Press the Windows key (the key directly to the left of the ALT key and spacebar) to bring up the Start Menu.

2. Click on Settings.

3. Click on Network & Internet.

4. Make sure that the Wi-Fi is enabled to see the list of available networks, then select the network appropriate for you.

5. After clicking on the appropriate network, you will be given the option to set the network to Connect Automatically. If you would like to utilize this feature, check the box. Press the Connect button to continue.

6. Next, you will be prompted to enter your user name and password. This will be your Bearpass Login and Password respectively. After typing in your credentials, click the OK button.

7. Once the credentials have been verified, you will be asked if you want to continue connecting. Click Connect.

You are now connected to the Wireless network and should be able to browse the internet, check your email, and more.

 


Setting Up Your Windows 10 Wireless in Tablet Mode

1. Click on the ☰ icon in the top left corner of the screen to open up the sidebar.

2. Click on Settings.

3. Click on Network & Internet.

4. Make sure that the Wi-Fi is enabled to see the list of available networks, then select the network appropriate for you.

5. After clicking on the appropriate network, you will be given the option to set the network to Connect Automatically. If you would like to utilize this feature, check the box. Press the Connect button to continue.

6. Next, you will be prompted to enter your user name and password. This will be your Bearpass Login and Password respectively. After typing in your credentials, click the OK button.

You are now connected to the Wireless network and should be able to browse the internet, check your email, and more.

 


How to Add Wireless with Network and Sharing Center

  1. Right-click your network icon in the taskbar and click Open Network and Sharing Center.

2. Click Setup a new connection or network.

3. Select Manually connect to a wireless network and then click Next.

4. Supply the network name and appropriate security (in this case we are using the MSU network with WPA2-Enterprise security), then click Next.

5. The next window will confirm that you have added the network, but the network needs more information to function properly. Click Change connection settings.

6. Click the Security tab.

7. Click Settings.

8. Select Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP-v2), then click Configure to the right.

9. Uncheck Automatically use my Window login name and password, and click OK. Click OK to close the Protected EAP Properties window.

10. In the Wireless Network Settings Window, click Advanced Settings.

11. In the Advanced Settings window, check Specify authentication mode and select User authentication in the drop-down menu. Click Save Credentials.

12. Supply your Bearpass Login and Bearpass Password. Click OK.

You are now connected to the Wireless network and should be able to browse the internet, check your email, and more.
