Updating Zoom

While you can use the Zoom web client, we suggest downloading the desktop client for the best possible experience.

Please Note: All users must upgrade to the 5.0+ client in order to join meetings after May 30, 2020.

Updating Zoom

Zoom provides a pop-up notification when there is a new mandatory or optional update within 24 hours of logging in.

You can also manually download the latest version by :

If you already have the desktop version installed, you can check for updates:

  1. Sign in to Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click your profile picture, then click Check for Updates.

If there is a newer version, Zoom will download and install it.

Check Current Zoom Version

You can view the version of the Zoom desktop client or mobile app you are currently running. If you are running an older version, download the latest version.

Desktop Client

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Desktop Client (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  2. Click your profile picture then click Help, then About Zoom.

You will then see your client version listed.

Mobile App

  1. Open the Zoom app.
  2. Click Settings (gear) icon.
  3. Tap About Zoom. You will see the Zoom app version.

Join a Test Meeting

If you're not sure if you have successfully updated to a 5.0+ client, you can join a Zoom test meeting.
