Missouri State has both basic and a licensed Zoom accounts available for users. During this time, we need to prioritize licensed accounts for teaching, so please review the account types to be certain a basic account will not meet your needs.
Please Note: You do not need a Zoom account in order to join a meeting. You only require an account to host meetings.
Basic accounts can be issued from Missouri State Outreach or created directly through Zoom. However, we suggest requesting an account through Missouri State as this allows our support team to assist you. Basic accounts contain all features of Zoom, but have some limits on group meetings.
Basic Zoom accounts allow you to:
- Host up to 100 participants
- Unlimited 1 to 1 meetings; 40 minute limit on group meetings
- Unlimited number of meetings
A Zoom license (previously Zoom Pro) gives you additional flexibility. Missouri State has a limited number of licenses available and teaching use is prioritized.
Licensed Zoom accounts allow you to:
- Host up to 300 participants
- Host an unlimited number of meetings
- Meeting duration is capped at 24 hours
Request an account
You can request either a basic or licensed account from our Software License Request - Zoom page. You can learn more about requesting a license and activating your account under Account Request and Setup.
A Zoom Webinar license provides up to 100 video participants and up to 10,000 attendees as well as registration management. Additional costs are associated with this license. Webinars are best suited for larger audiences and events open to the public, where attendees do not need to interact with each another. Webinars are typically used for circumstances where you want to deliver information out to participants, but don't need them to have the option to respond to you with video or audio. Participants in a webinar can be limited to chat functions, Q&A features, and polling. Currently, webinars can only be purchased centrally on a yearly basis only.
