Your BearPass Password is used to log in to many Missouri State University systems, including your email account, campus computers, the My Missouri State portal, and Blackboard. This guide is to help you change your BearPass Password should you forget your password or if your account should become locked. University BearPass account passwords do not periodically expire unless an account has a security risk.
Step-by-Step Guide
If you know your current password and it is not expired and your account is not locked, or you have been issued a temporary password, you can change your password using your Office 365 account. (If you do not know your current password or your account is locked, you will need to use your Security Options.)
- Navigate to https://missouristate.edu/Account and select Change Your Password.
- Enter your Office 365 username and click Next.

- Enter your BearPass password. This is the same password you use to log in to My Missouri State, Blackboard, and campus computers.
- Click Sign in.
- Enter your current password in the Old password field.
- Create a new password and enter it in the Create new password and Confirm new password fields. Passwords are required to be at least 12 characters in length and are case-sensitive.
- Click Submit to confirm your password change.

-
Navigate to https://missouristate.edu/Account and select Unlock Your Account.

-
Choose the first method for how you would like to verify your identity. The options you see will be based on the verification methods you set up on your account, so you will be able to choose from approving a notification in the Microsoft Authenticator app, entering a code from the Authenticator app, a call/text to your mobile phone, or an email sent to your personal email address.

-
Approve a notification on my authenticator app: Click Send Notification to receive a push notification on your mobile device.
-
Select Approve on the notification that was sent to your authenticator app.

-
Enter a code from my authenticator app: open the Microsoft Authenticator app or the 3rd-party authenticator app that you use.
-
On the webpage, enter the code that appears below your username in the app, and then click Next.

-
Email my alternate email: Confirm that you recognize the address listed for you and click the Email button to send a verification code to that address.
-
Enter the code that was sent to your email and click Next.

-
Text my mobile phone: Enter the phone number associated with your account and click the Text button to send a verification code to that number.

-
Enter the code that was sent your phone number and click Next.

-
Call my mobile phone: Enter the phone number associated with your account and click the Call button to receive an automated call to that number.

-
Answer the phone call and press the pound (#) key when prompted.

-
Choose the second method for how you would like to verify your identity using the methods above.
-
Once you have verified your identity successfully, enter and confirm your new password then click Finish.
Passwords are required to be at least 12 characters in length and are case-sensitive.

You will see a success message that your password has been reset. Use the click here link to sign in with your new password.
