Disposal (Surplus) of University Hardware - Hard Drive Removal / Sanitation

Overview

When a department desires to surplus computers or items with data drives, the hard drive must be removed or sanitized and device marked Approved for Surplus before items will be picked up for removal.

Steps for Disposal (Surplus) of University Hardware

  1. Request hard drive removal for any campus computer. Your device will be marked with a sticker as Approved for Surplus.
  2. Complete Surplus Request form to schedule Property Control to pick up device from your office. 

Eligibility

This service is available to all university Faculty or Staff.

Cost

There is no charge to request or use this service but there may be disposal costs assessed for non-standard hardware.
