You can enable Subscribe in when you edit a Forum to allow you and your students to subscribe to a forum or thread and receive e-mail notification of any new postings.
The instructor must allow subscriptions to thread and forums in the forum settings. In the settings, you will choose either Include body of post in the email or Include link to post. Users cannot reply to the discussion forum directly from their email. If Include link to post is selected, it will take users directly to the thread or forum if they are logged into Blackboard. If not logged into Blackboard, it will take them to the Blackboard login screen.
Please Note: You can choose to not allow students to subscribe to a forum and a thread, you must select one of the options.

How to Subscribe or Unsubscribe to a Forum or Thread
To Subscribe or Unsubscribe to a forum
- Click the name of the discussion board forum, and then click Subscribe.
- You will see a subscription notification on the screen.
- In addition, the Subscribe button will change to Unsubscribe.
- To unsubscribe, select the forum, and then click Unsubscribe.
To Subscribe or Unsubscribe to a thread
- From the discussion board page, click the name of the forum.
- On the forum page, click the name of the thread.
- On the thread detail page, click Subscribe.
- After you click Subscribe, notice the button changes to Unsubscribe, indicating you have successfully subscribed to the thread.
- To unsubscribe to a thread, click Unsubscribe.
