Overview

Computer Services has a limited inventory of Work-Ready laptops and desktops available for lending to departments with a short-term or temporary need.

  • Work-Ready Lending devices are for departmental university use only. Students should contact Meyer Library for available Equipment Lending
  • If a long-term or permanent need for devices, please see Purchase University Hardware.
  • The maximum Work-Ready Lending period is 2 weeks with the option to renew if no one is on the waiting list.
  • Please submit form at least 2 business days in advance of pick up date. 

Work-Ready Laptop kit includes 14" Dell laptop with power cord and carrying bag.
Work-Ready AIO/Desktop kit includes 24" Dell All-in-One, or Dell tower and 24" monitor if needed.
Work-Ready Laptop Cart kit includes up to 17 - 14" Dell laptops with mobile charging cart.

Available To

The program is available to CORE IT-supported departments, as listed on the Functional Assignments site. Missouri State department managers are able to request this service for University use. This service cannot be requested by Student Employee or Graduate Assistant.

Terms and Conditions

These terms aim to promote fair access, responsible use, and proper maintenance of university-owned technology. Please read Terms and Conditions below before submitting your lending request.

Work Ready Lending Terms and Conditions
  1. Eligibility
    • Loaner equipment is available to CORE IT-supported departments only for official university-related purposes, including remote work, campus events, travel, or while waiting on device repair or replacement.
  2. Loan Duration & Equipment Availability
    • Loan periods are typically two weeks
    • Extensions must be requested prior to the due date and are subject to device availability and borrower status.
    • Requests for longer durations or for multiple devices must receive approval prior to checkout.
    • Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. Pickup & Return
    • Equipment must be picked up and returned in person at the Client Services Office Suite in Meyer Library 117.
    • All items, including chargers, cases, and other accessories, must be returned in good working condition by the agreed return date.
  4. Borrowing Department's Responsibilities
    1. The borrowing department is fully responsible for the care, security, and timely return of all borrowed equipment. You must:
    • Do not install unauthorized software or alter university-configured settings.
    • Avoid leaving the equipment in unsecured areas, such as cars, especially overnight.
    • Keep the device in your custody and protect it from loss, theft, or damage.
    • Save your work to cloud storage or external media, as devices will be wiped upon return.
    • Return the device on time or notify Computer Services immediately if an extension is needed.
  5. Incident Reporting
    • Any malfunctions, damages, or loss/theft must be reported immediately to Computer Services.
    • In the event of theft, contact Campus Security or Springfield Police to file a report. Provide any case number(s) to Computer Services.
  6. Fees & Consequences for Non-Compliance
    • The borrowing department will be billed for:
      • Lost, stolen, or damaged equipment.
      • Equipment not returned by the due date without an approved extension.
    • Late returns, misuse, or failure to comply with this agreement may result in:
      • Loss of future borrowing privileges.
      • Financial responsibility for replacement or repair.
  7. Additional Terms
    • All loaned equipment remains the property of Missouri State University.
    • Use of the equipment must comply with MSU’s Acceptable Use Policy and all applicable university IT guidelines.
    • The device may require periodic connection to the MSU network. You may be asked to return or update the device if not properly synced.
