The Brightspace Pulse app can be used to access course information and receive notifications on your smartphone. To download the app, search for Brightspace Pulse on either the Appstore or Google Play. After installing, open the app. You will be prompted to Find your school or institution.
Search for Missouri State University and select the correct option from the search results. You will then be able to log in to Brightspace using your Missouri State Account.

Using Brightspace Pulse you can:
- Check dates and deadlines within your courses
- Receive updates on grades, announcements, and other content
- View course content
The Upcoming tab includes Work to Do, Events, and All sub-tabs to toggle between views:
- The Work to Do and Events tabs shows a graph for the week, visualizing which days have more assessments/events. Other weeks can be viewed by swiping left or right
- The All tab shows a running list of work and events across several months.
The Courses tab displays the courses you are currently enrolled in. It also has a button to access the Missouri State University Brightspace homepage.
The Notifications tab displays announcements, updates, graded assessments, and other types of notifications.
Navigation
Each tab within Brightspace Pulse can be easily accessed by tapping them along the bottom of the app.
You can also access a version of Brightspace that is similar to the desktop browser version by clicking the Missouri State University Homepage button under the Courses tab. It should function similarly to the desktop browser version, but will be formatted to fit your phone's screen.
Courses Tab
Under the Courses tab you can tap on any of your courses to access them. You can also click the Unread Assignment Feedback button or the Unread Discussions button below any course to directly visit those pages.
After tapping on a course, you can see the course's Content, Activity Feed, and Grades.
The Content tab allows you to access your course's modules and content.
Upcoming Tab
In the Upcoming tab, tapping an assignment or event will show you its information and due date. It will also give you the option to go directly to the assignment page, which functions the same as the assignment page would on a desktop browser.
Notifications
The Notifications tab shows course notifications. You can view Updates or Subscriptions. Updates are instructor notifications, such as alerts, and other course notifications, such as due date notices. The Subscriptions tab shows content you may have subscribed to in a course, such as a discussion board post. You can change what type of notifications you receive in the Brightspace Pulse settings.
Brightspace Pulse for Course Instructors
While most of the Brightspace Pulse app is the same for course instructors, you will maintain the ability to manage certain course settings through the app. Many tools you may want to quickly use from your mobile device can be accessed through the Missouri State University Homepage button in the Courses tab. This will allow you to view your courses and do things such as post announcements, grade assignments, and generally anything else you can do using the regular desktop browser version of Brightspace.
