Step-by-Step Guide

How to take a test with LockDown Browser

1. To use Respondus LockDown Browser for a Brightspace quiz, you must first close all other programs that are open on your computer.
2. Next, you must log into Brightspace and go to your course (you may use any standard browser). Find the quiz you need to take.
3. Once you have selected the quiz, you will be prompted to launch or install Respondus LockDown Browser. If you have not downloaded and installed LockDown Browser, you will be required to do so before taking the quiz.
   
4. Once LockDown Browser has been installed, you will be asked to close blocked programs. Choose Yes.
5. Review the Terms of Use and click Agree to continue.
6. Next, you will be asked to complete a Webcam Check. This involves verifying that you can see yourself to check your camera and taking a five-second video while counting aloud to ensure that your microphone is functioning properly.
7. Next, you will be given additional instructions. Click Continue once you have read them.
8. Guidelines and tips will be provided. These will be separated into five brief sections. Click Next to proceed each time you have finished reading a section. After the last section, click Continue.
9. You will be asked to position your face to fill the window. Once you have done this, click Take Picture to move on.
10. To show identification, hold the identification specified by your instructor up to the camera. Click Take Picture.
11. Next, you will complete an environment check. This requires you to click Start Recording and slowly move your webcam to show the surrounding area. Click Stop Recording when you are finished.
12. A facial detection check will be done to ensure that you are clearly visible during the exam. A green thumbs up will appear to the right of the window if successful. Click Continue once you have done this.
13. Once the Startup Sequence is complete, click Begin Exam. You are now ready to take your quiz.
