How to Stream HBO Max on RoKu/Amazon Fire TV

As a service to on-campus residents, Missouri State Residence Life offers Streeme+ TV and HBO Max. To utilize these services, you must have an active housing contract. This guide demonstrates how to access HBO Max on a Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

Please Note: Your device must be registered through the MSU HomeDevice Registration system and connected to MSU Home Device before continuing.

Step-by-Step Guide

On a RoKu

  1. Ensure that the HBO Max app is installed on your RoKu. If is is not, download it from the channel store before continuing.
  2. Open the app and choose Sign In.
  3. Choose Connect Your Provider.
  4. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code.
  5. Navigate to https://www.hbomax.com/sign-in on a phone or a computer and click Start Activation.
  6. Enter the 6-character code shown on your TV and click Next.
  7. Click View All Providers.
  8. Scroll until you see University Video Services and select it from the list.
  9. Select Missouri State University in the next page.
  10. Enter your Missouri State Account ID and Password.
  11. If this is your first time using HBO Max, you will be asked to create an account. Use your Missouri State Account for this.
  12. You will then need to verify your e-mail address. Once you verify, you are able to stream HBO Max.
     

On an Amazon Fire TV

  1. On your home screen, go to Search and type HBO Max 
  2. Select HBO Max and select Download. 
  3. Select Open. 
  4. Choose Connect Your Provider.
  5. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code.
  6. Navigate to https://www.hbomax.com/sign-in on a phone or a computer and click Start Activation.
  7. Enter the 6-character code shown on your TV and click Next.
  8. Click View All Providers.
  9. Scroll until you see University Video Services and select it from the list.
  10. Select Missouri State University in the next page.
  11. Enter your Missouri State Account ID and Password.
  12. If this is your first time using HBO ​​​​​​​Max, you will be asked to create an account. Use your Missouri State Account and a unique password for this.
