Students living within Residence Halls are able to connect a variety of smart home devices to campus networks. This guide will discuss how to connect an Amazon Echo Dot to the MSU HomeDevice network.
Please Note: Your Echo Dot must have been used previously before connecting to MSU Home Device. If you are attempting to connect a brand new Amazon Echo device to the network, please set it up on a personal hotspot, or a non-Missouri State University WiFi network.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Register your device on MSU HomeDevice Network by following this article.
- Once you have connected to the MSU HomeDevice network, press and hold the action button (the solid circle button) on your Amazon Echo dot.
- Under Wi-Fi Network on the Amazon Echo app, press Wi-Fi Network.
- Hit Continue.
- If your Echo Dot is displaying an orange light click Yes.
- Select your Amazon Echo from the list presented and keep your phone close to your Amazon Echo device.
- Select your WiFi network (MSU HomeDevice) .
- Enter the MSU HomeDevice password found on the HomeDevice registration page and hit Connect.
- After a few minutes your Amazon Echo should be connected to the MSU Home Device network.
