Respondus with Assistive Technology Software

Users have experienced issues using assistive technology software with Respondus LockDown Browser. For security reasons, most "text to speech" utilities (including Read&Write Gold) used for literacy purposes are blocked because they include features that allow students to do dictionary and reference lookups, which could compromise the academic integrity of the exam. This includes such programs as Read&Write Gold and the Kurzweil 3000 (not the standard text to speech Kurzweil 1000).

Standard text to speech programs used as assistive technologies for limited vision students – such as JAWS, NDA, and ZoomText in Windows, and VoiceOver in Mac OS X 10.x – are supported in LockDown Browser for Windows.
