How to Copy a Test

Copying a test is helpful for sharing an exam with another instructor or using the same exam in another one of your courses. To do so, you must export your exam from the course it's already in and then import it to the course you would like it to be in.

Step-by-Step Guide

How to Copy a Test

  1. In the course that you are copying from, go to the Control Panel > Course Tools > Test, Surveys, and Pools.
    tests, surveys, and pools link

  2. Select Tests.
    tests link

  3. Select the menu next to the test you want to export.
Click the down arrow next to the exam to access the menu.

  4. From the drop-down menu, select Export to Local Computer.
From the drop-down menu select Export to Local Computer or Content Collection.

Please Note: The file will be saved as a .zip package. Do not unzip or otherwise alter the contents of the .zip package. You will upload the .zip package to Blackboard in the next steps.

Safari is not a recommended browser for downloading .zip packages. Use Chrome or Firefox to download the exported files instead. If you must use Safari, you will need to change the settings to allow for downloaded .zip files.

  5. Once downloaded to your computer, go to your new course (the one you are copying into) > Control Panel > Course Tools > Test, Surveys, and Pools > Tests.
    tests link

  6. Select Import Test.
Select import test from the test canvas.

  7. Select Browse Local Files.
    Test import options

  8. Locate your Test Import file and click Open.

  9. Click Submit.
  10. You should see a message confirming "Test Import Complete".
