How to Create a Blog

You can create a blog as an area to elaborate on specific topics related to your course or to have your students discuss certain readings. Blogs are different from journals in that they are not private. When you create a blog, you can create a link to a specific blog or to the blogs page.

How to Create a Blog


Create A New Blog
  1. Select the Content Area where you want to place the Blog.
  2. Point to Tools, and then click Blogs.

  3. Click Create New Blog.
  4. In the Name box, type a name for your new blog.
  5. In the Description area, type a description for your blog.
  6. Set the Availability and Date and Time Restrictions.
  7. Under Blog Participation select Course, and then click to de-select Allow Anonymous Comments.
    1. Creating a Course blog allows all users in the course to post and comment on the same blog. If you select Individual to All Students instead, each student will have their own blog.
      De-select Allow Anonymous Comments from blog settings.
  8. Under Blog Settings, choose settings for indexing and allowing students to delete entries.
  9. Select your grading settings, and then click Submit.
     
Link to a Blog
  1. Under the Create Link: Blog section you can Link to the Blogs Page or Link to a Blog.
    Add a link to a blog page in your course.
     
  2. If you wish to Link to a Blog select that radio button. Then choose the blog you wish to use, and click Next.
    Please Note:  Selecting Link to the Blogs Page will allow students to see a list of all the Blogs available in the course.
  3. Select your settings for this blog link, including availability and tracking, and then click Submit.
