How to Submit and Download an Assignment

Below are step-by-step instructions for submitting an assignment as an individual and as a group. After the assignment has been submitted and graded you can download the document with or without annotations made by the instructor.

How to Submit an Assignment

Assignments can be placed anywhere in a course, so your instructor will let you know where your assignment is located, either in class or through a notification, an announcement, or by sending an email.

  1. Select the Content Area from the Course Menu where your instructor has placed the assignment. (In the picture below, this area is labeled Assignments, but each course is different.)

  2. Pick the appropriate assignment from the list.

  3. Assignment Information will have information pertinent to the assignment such as Due Date, Instructions, etc. Be sure to read all the instructions carefully.

  4. Follow the assignment instructions. If you need to upload a file you can do so by clicking Browse My Computer. For assignments requiring multiple submissions, repeat this step until all files are attached.

    Please Note:  If you are using a Chromebook and receive a No file chosen message after selecting a file, repeat the process and select the file from the Downloads folder, not from Google Drive.
  5. Your uploaded file will appear below the text editor. You can rename your uploaded file in the Link Title box. You can enter additional information for your instructor to read in the Comments box.

  6. Your instructor might have you write your submission or copy and paste your submission into the text editor. Click Write Submission to enter text into the text editor.

  7. Click Submit

  8. If your submitted assignment was a Word document you will see a preview pane after you click Submit. Click OK to return to the content area you began in.

How to Submit an Assignment as a Group

Once assigned a project as a group, you'll need to turn it in. Follow these steps to submit your group project.

Please Note:  Group assignments are set up so that one person submits the assignment on behalf of the entire group. That submission is then allocated to all members of the group. So you will want to designate which group member will submit the assignment. If you are the person designated to turn in an assignment for your group, follow the instructions below.
  1. Under Assignments, click the name of the group project you've been given.

  2. To attach your file, click Browse My Computer under Assignment Submission. Alternatively, you can click Write Submission and fill in the text field that appears with your completed work.

  3. Select the file you want to upload and click Open.

  4. Click Submit to turn in your assignment. You also have the option to Save as Draft if it's not complete yet.

  5. You'll receive this warning box to confirm that you're submitting the project for the entire group. Click OK.

  6. The next screen will confirm that the assignment has been submitted. A preview of the assignment will be displayed if it is a Word, Excel, Powerpoint or PDF. (DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, or PDF) file.

How to Download Assignments without Instructor's Annotations

To download your assignment submissions without the Instructor's annotated feedback begin by following the Step-by-step guide below.

  1. Click on My Grades link in the Course menu

  2. Locate the assignment that you would like to download and then click on the assignment's name

  3. From this page you can view an annotated version of your submission, any comments/markups, your grade for the assignment, and any feedback that the instructor has left for you.
  4. Click the down arrow next to the Submission's title to select the type of file to download.
