When inserting a flash drive into the open lab computers (Windows), it is easy to navigate to the device through the File Explorer. SD cards, however are not immediately recognized and must be searched for in a direct manner.

How to Open an SD Card in Windows on the Open Lab Computers

  1. Insert your SD card into the computer.
  2. If nothing pops up, click the File Explorer.
  3. Right click This PC and click Properties.

  4. Click Device Manager.

  5. Click the arrow next to SD host adapters, then right click SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller. Click Scan for hardware changes.

  6. Your device will now appear in the File Explorer.
