How to Change Your Course Entry Point

The course entry point is the first page a user will see when they open your course. If you do not select an entry point, it will default to the first item on your course menu, which is usually the Announcements page. To change the course entry point follow the below steps.

Please Note: Do not change the course entry point to an external webpage or something only students have access to, such as My Grades; this could cause you or your students to be locked out of the course. If you delete items from the default course template and the University Policies link becomes the first item on your course menu, it will become the course entry point by default. This means your students will be directed to that external web page when they try to access your course. It is recommended to leave the Announcements page as the course entry point and first item on your course menu.

How to Change Your Course Entry Point

  1. Locate the Course Management Menu.
  2. In the Control Panel, click Customization, and then click Teaching Style.

  3. Under Select Course Entry Point, choose the entry point for your course. The Announcements page is the recommended course entry point.
    From the drop down menu, choose a section in your course to be the Entry Point.
     
  4. On the bottom right hand corner of the screen, click Submit. You've changed the Course Entry Point.
Please Note:  If there is an item you want to use as the entry point that is not available in the list, you will need to add the item to the Course Menu first.
