Inserting an Image or Carousel on a Page

Broken images
If you encounter a broken image link, you will want to make certain your image files have been published to the live server.

Inserting a Standalone Image

When inserting an image into your content — depending on how you insert it — your image may, or may not, have a drop shadow.

With a drop shadow

If you wish to have the drop shadow, you will need to insert the featured image (standalone) component on to your page. 

  1. Navigate to the page where you wish to place your component.
  2. Click on Pencil icon Edit on the page actions toolbar.
  3. Click on the green Main Region button to check out the page. 
  4. Place your text cursor in the editable region where you would like the featured content with image to appear. 
  5. Click on the Atom Atom icon to view available components. 
  6. Click on Featured Image (Standalone).
  7. Click Insert.
  8. Your component is presented as a form.

  9. Click on insert/edit Image button Insert/Edit Image.
  10. Navigate to and click on the appropriate image from your _Files folder.
  11. Click Insert.
  12. Add an image description. This is your alternative text.
  13. Click Save.


Without a drop shadow

If you do not wish to have a drop shadow on your image, you may insert the image directly from the WYSIWYG toolbar

  1. Navigate to the page where you wish to place your component.
  2. Click on Pencil icon Edit on the page actions toolbar.
  3. Click on the green Main Region button to check out the page. 
  4. Place your text cursor in the editable region where you would like the featured content with image to appear. 
  5. Select the General tab and click on insert/edit Image button Insert/Edit Image.
  6. Next to the Source field, click the file chooser icon File chooser icon - box with an up arrow..
  7. Navigate to your _Files folder and choose the appropriate image.
  8. Click Insert.
  9. Add a description. This provides alternative text for the image.
  10. Add a title for the image, adjust the dimensions, select a style class, and add an ID, as appropriate.
  11. Select the Advanced tab to make adjustments to the image's appearance on the page.
  12. Adjust the alignment, vertical space, horizontal space, border width, and style as appropriate.
  13. Click Save.
  14. To reopen and edit the image, select the image and click on the insert/edit Image button Insert/Edit Image in the toolbar.
     

Inserting an MSU Photo Slider (carousel)
